The Hon. Michael F. Rehill Honored at Provincial Synod for 19 Years of Service

On May 4, 2012, the Hon. Michael F. Rehill of the Diocese of Newark ended 19 years of service to the Second Province of the Episcopal Church at the province’s Triennial Synod held in Albany, New York. Over that time, Judge Rehill served the Province as Chancellor for six years; Vice President for seven years; and President for the past six years. He was succeeded as President by the Right Reverend Lawrence C. Provenzano, Bishop of Long Island.

Judge Rehill presided over the Synod which focused on preparing for General Convention. It included presentations by the Presiding Bishop, the Most Reverend Katherine Jefferts Schori; the President of the House of Deputies, Canon Dr. Bonnie Anderson of the Diocese of Michigan; the Secretary of the House of Deputies and Executive Officer and Secretary of the General Convention, the Rev. Canon Dr. Gregory S. Straub of the Diocese of Easton; the Co-Chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Program, Budget and Finance, Deputy Dianne Pollard of the Diocese of New York; the Right Reverend Stacy Sauls, Chief Operating Officer of The Episcopal Church; the Hon. Thomas Little, Chancellor of the Diocese of Vermont and a member of the Standing Committee on Structure; and the Hon. Byron Rushing, a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives and long-time Deputy from the Diocese of Massachusetts.

At the Provincial Banquet, Judge Rehill was presented with the Second Province Outstanding Service Award for his long and distinguished service to the Province by Bishop Provenzano and by Canon Charles "Chuck" Perfater of the Diocese of New Jersey, the Province’s Executive Coordinator.
